Guest Posting: Guide to writing as a Guest Author
Welcome to our blog! It is a pleasure to collaborate with you through guest posting and that we can both benefit from all the advantages it brings. Guest author articles are key to improve the visibility of your blog, attract more traffic to your website and expand your Link Building strategy. Also offering your blog to other authors allows you to get relevant, quality and interesting content for your readers.
Before you start writing, you need to define some guidelines so that the content follows the dynamics and aesthetics of the blog.
Thematic
As we mentioned, the content must be in sync with the rest of the blog articles in which you are going to participate so that it can interest regular readers. In our case, the usual themes are:
- Web Design / Graphic Design
- SEO / SEM
- Social Media / Social Networks
- Online Marketing / Digital Marketing / Video Marketing
- Online advertising
Originality
Of course the article must be original and unique, texts copied in whole or in part will not be accepted. Google penalizes this type of content if it recognizes that it has been published on another website. If you have doubts about the authenticity of your article, there are tool like CopyScape that detect duplicate content.
Extension
The minimum length of the article will be 800 words. How many more the better! Long articles rank better in search results and ensure that the information being talked about is really good, as you have spent quite a bit of time writing it. But beware of including filler content. Extensive yes, but useful.
Links
One of the features of Guest Blogging is to add links to your own blog in the guest post to expand the information you are dealing with. You can include up to 2 links to articles on your blog that are relevant to the topic. Try to do it naturally, they are well embedded in the article.
IMPORTANT: Suspicious links will either be removed directly or become “no follow” according to Google guidelines.
We reserve the right to add internal links to our own blog to link articles with similar themes.
Writing style
Use simple and easy to read and understand language. If by circumstances you need to use more technical terms, do so by briefly explaining their meaning or linking to their definition.
Make use of bold to highlight interesting phrases or keywords in your article. Normally the reader takes a quick look at the post before reading it and the words you highlight will be the first ones you see.
Divide the text into paragraphs and include subtitles to facilitate reading and avoid endless blocks.
Finally, pay attention to grammar and spelling, making mistakes in this section can scare readers away. Use accents and punctuation correctly and don’t forget to use synonyms to avoid repetition.
Images and videos
The cover image of your article should have a dimension of 1200x628px and follow the aesthetics of the rest of the blog entries. If you prefer, we can take it upon ourselves to create it so you don’t take up your time writing.
You can use as much audiovisual content as you want within your article to capture the visitor’s attention and make reading more enjoyable. Add photographs that illustrate your subtitles, screenshots to guide the user, explanatory videos, and gifs … The size of these images will be 800px to occupy the full width of the screen. The smaller the file size, the better without losing quality so as not to penalize the loading speed of the web. You can reduce your images with Light Image Resizer. Make sure you have express permission to use the images or that they do not require copyright.
To facilitate the task, show us in your text file the place where you want us to include the attached images. For example, indicating the file name in parentheses.
Biography of the author
We create an author sheet on our blog with the information you provide us. So we have you signed for future collaborations.
Send us a 400x400px square profile image in which you look handsome.
Describe yourself in a short biography: your name, where you work, what you are passionate about … everything you think defines you. Also the link to your website and your email.
